Man United Legend Banned From Roads After Range Rover Caught Speeding in Cleckheaton
The former Manchester United midfielder was fined about £1,472 after police said his cars were recorded at 37mph and 49mph in 30mph zones.
Former Manchester United player Paul Scholes received a six-month driving ban last week following two motoring convictions, with court proceedings resulting in total fines and costs of £1,472.
West Yorkshire Police prosecuted Scholes for a March speeding incident in his Range Rover near Cleckheaton, while Greater Manchester Police pursued him for a November incident involving his Mercedes on Mossley Road.
Prosecuted under the Single Justice Procedure, Scholes did not enter pleas and was convicted in his absence; court papers noted he is a "totter," meaning existing penalty points mandated an automatic ban.
At Bradford Magistrates, Scholes received a £220 fine; Manchester Magistrates imposed £660, with police dropping one speeding allegation after stating, "No reply has been received" to letters.
Scholes played 499 times for Manchester United, winning 11 Premier League titles and three FA Cup wins; this driving ban concludes recent court proceedings regarding his motoring offenses.
