Man Hurls Cheesesteak at Shop Manager in South Philly; $5K Reward Offered
Owner Frank Olivieri is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and assault charges after the attack was caught on video.
On Wednesday, Sept. 30, an unidentified man threw a cheesesteak at Tom Francano, the general manager of Pat's King of Steaks in South Philadelphia, shortly before 5 p.m.
Surveillance footage shows the individual arrived with a camera and tripod, then mangled the sandwich by hand before returning to the service window to complain about its quality.
Owner Frank Olivieri is now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, believing the incident was a staged attempt to gain online attention.
Although Francano was unharmed during the confrontation, police are investigating the incident as an assault, and the manager hopes the suspect will be held accountable.
While Pat's has seen various objects thrown during its 96-year history, Olivieri noted this pre-planned, camera-recorded attack is unprecedented for the iconic South Philly shop.
Pat's King of Steaks is offering a $5,000 reward for help identifying a customer who three a cheesetake in the face of a manager at the shop's window Wednesday afternoon. The incident was caught on video and police said the South Philly restaurant reported it as an assault.
