Patrick Kielty Is to Stay on as Host of RTE's Flagship Programme for Three More Years
RTÉ confirmed a new three-year deal for Kielty, with the broadcaster citing strong audience numbers and 1.46 million RTÉ Player streams last season.
RTE confirmed on Tuesday that Patrick Kielty signed a new three-year deal to continue hosting The Late Late Show, allowing for up to 30 shows per season as the programme enters its 66th season.
The agreement ends months of speculation regarding Kielty's future after his contract expired about nine weeks ago; he became the fourth permanent presenter in 2023, succeeding Ryan Tubridy and joining Gay Byrne and Pat Kenny.
RTE reported the 2025/26 season averaged 385,000 viewers per episode with a 38.2% share, and the show recorded more than 1.46 million streams on the broadcaster's player.
"Hosting The Late Late Show is one of the greatest gigs in the world," Kielty said, calling the past three years a "joy and a privilege," while RTE Group Head of Entertainment and Music Alan Tyler praised the show's "new lease of life."
Viewers can expect Kielty to front the programme until at least 2029, bringing stability to the historic series; specific salary terms remain undisclosed, though previous compensation included payments for "exceptional" episodes beyond his standard contract.
