Police said a 49-year-old driver was arrested after the crash, and the patient in the ambulance later died in hospital.
Emergency services responded to a collision involving an ambulance and a car on Balmore Road, Glasgow on Tuesday evening, leaving the ambulance on its side.
Two staff members from the Scottish Ambulance Service were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment, while a student paramedic was transported to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Tragically, one patient who was being transported by the ambulance died in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary following a medical matter; the collision occurred at Balmore Road's junction with Ashgill Road.
Police Scotland arrested a 49-year-old man in connection with a road traffic offence, while footage from the scene appears to show the ambulance rolled over with its lights still active.
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed the ambulance had been en route to the hospital when the collision occurred, with police and emergency crews continuing their investigation in northern Glasgow.
