Pastrnak Scores 2 Goals, Adds 2 Assists in the Bruins' 6-1 Rout of the Mammoth
Boston scored three power-play goals and blocked 23 shots as David Pastrnak opened the season with two goals and two assists.
On Thursday night at TD Garden, the Boston Bruins snapped a two-game losing streak, routing the Utah Mammoth 6-1 behind David Pastrnak's two goals and two assists.
The Bruins established control early, scoring three times in the opening frame as forward Casey Mittelstadt, Pastrnak, and defenseman Mason Lohrei each found the net to build a 3-0 lead.
Forward Morgan Geekie extended the lead to 5-0 on the power play at 7:57 of the second period, while goalie Jeremy Swayman anchored the defense with 36 saves on 37 shots.
Mammoth forward Jack McBain cut the deficit to 6-1 at 9:48 of the third period, though the Bruins blocked 23 shots to stifle Utah's offensive efforts throughout the game.
The Bruins host the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon to conclude their home stand, with puck drop scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on NESN.
