Parking ticket issued to restaurant’s decorative scooter
Bonita Pasta Club says the ticket was genuine and has filed an appeal after council officers treated the display scooter as a vehicle.
The newly opened Bonita Pasta Club is appealing a parking ticket issued to its decorative Vespa mascot outside the Weymouth Harbour venue last week.
Located on Custom House Quay, the family-run restaurant opened last week and uses the stationary bike to 'promote carbs to the people of Weymouth.'
Dorset Council confirmed the ticket was issued during a routine patrol, stating the scooter is legally classed as a vehicle due to its tax and number plate.
Staff initially experienced low morale but have since jokingly claimed they assembled a 'highly experienced legal team' to contest the fine.
The restaurant stated they are 'overwhelmed by the support of the community,' noting the controversy has helped introduce Bonita to local residents and visitors.
