Met Investigates Deaths of Parents and Child After London Tower Fall
Police are treating the deaths as unexpected while formally identifying the family and supporting next of kin, officials said.
Three people—Aditi, Rakesh, and their nine-year-old son Sid—died after falling from the 45-storey UNCLE tower block in Elephant and Castle, London, on May 27. The Metropolitan Police are investigating the deaths as a suspected suicide.
Neil Coyle, Bermondsey and Old Southwark MP, stated the family lived on the 36th floor. Reports suggest Sid's severe illnesses, including kidney disease, may have contributed to the parents' decision.
Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade, attended Churchyard Row at 7.29am. The Met Police confirmed they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Senior Coroner for the London Inner South area Julian Morris confirmed the matter has been referred to his office. A local resident told the Mirror the community is "devastated" after witnessing the tragedy.
Detectives continue their investigation as the Met emphasized work is underway to formally identify victims and support next-of-kin. Authorities urge anyone experiencing distress to contact the Samaritans on 116 123 for confidential support.
