Paramount taps ex-Trump official as public policy VP amid Warner Bros bid
Rene Augustine, a former DOJ antitrust deputy, will lead global public policy at Paramount amid its $108.4 billion hostile takeover bid for Warner Bros. Discovery.
- On Feb. 17, Rene Augustine will begin as senior vice president of global public policy at Paramount Skydance, reporting to Makan Delrahim and based in Washington, D.C.
- As Paramount pursues its $108.4 billion bid, the company added lobbyist Ted Lehman to bolster its policy team before Rene Augustine's appointment.
- Her resume includes serving as deputy assistant attorney general in the DOJ Antitrust Division from 2019 to 2021, overseeing international enforcement policy, and roles in the White House Counsel's Office and as associate counsel to President George W. Bush.
- Delrahim said she will partner closely with Ted Lehman and interact with teams in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and New York, as he stated, 'In her role, Rene will be responsible for developing strategic policies that advance our business objectives and building key diplomatic relationships that are important for advancing those objectives globally.'
- With regulatory approval at stake, shareholders can withdraw before Feb. 20, and 42.3 million shares have been tendered as of Monday.
