As the European Union's Remuneration Transparency Directive comes into force in Lithuania, employers will have to review their remuneration practices. The new regulation stipulates that equal pay must be paid for the same work or work of equal value, and deviations from this rule can only be applied on objective grounds.
In less than two months, on June 7, the EU's Pay Transparency Directive, which aims to reduce the gender pay gap, is set to enter into force in Lithuania. Although women generally earn much less, some organizations will need to increase men's salaries, not theirs.
