Raphael Pallitsch set a new Austrian record at his start of the season and undercut the limit for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September. The 35-year-old Burgenländer ran the 1,500 m in 3:32.96 minutes at the Golden Spike Meeting in Ostrava/Ostrava and improved the ÖLV record he also held from the previous year (3:33.59) by 0.63 seconds.
