Pakistan, China Reach 'New Broad Consensus' on Strengthening Strategic Partnership as PM Concludes Visit

- The visit marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, with Sharif attending a commemoration ceremony in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province as the statement noted this friendship has 'remained rock solid' through regional upheaval.
- Across multiple sectors, both sides committed to advancing CPEC 2.0, the Karakoram Highway Thakot-Raikot realignment, and Gwadar Port development, while congratulating completion of training for 1,000 Pakistani agricultural technicians in Chinese provinces including Shaanxi, Hubei, Sichuan and Hainan.
- Under an action plan through 2029, both sides committed to deepening defense and security cooperation, with China establishing a China-Pakistan Security Partnership and Pakistan pledging targeted measures to protect Chinese personnel, projects and institutions.
- Beijing reaffirmed backing for Pakistan as the next Shanghai Cooperation Organisation president and UN Security Council member from 2025–2026, while Pakistan reinforced commitment to the one-China principle and support for China's positions on Xinjiang, Xizang, Hong Kong and the South China Sea.
