The Pakistan Air Force has showcased newer short-range air-defence systems of Chinese and Turkish origin, including the HQ-17A and KORKUT, as it seeks to strengthen protection around key military assets. The systems were displayed after Operation Sindoor, during which India said it had targeted Pakistani air-defence infrastructure and military sites. The new equipment adds additional layers to Pakistans air defence network.

Pakistan has become the third foreign country to add the advanced Chinese-made HQ-17AE air defense system to its inventory; moments of the system scanning targets while in transit were confirmed in an official video.
