Pacific Power, PGE raise residential electricity rates again for Oregon customers

On Wednesday, the Oregon Public Utility Commission approved electricity rate hikes for Pacific Power and Portland General Electric customers, effective April 1, 2026, affecting 1.5 million Oregon households.
Implementation was delayed until April 1 under House Bill 3179, the FAIR Act, which prohibits private utilities from raising residential rates during winter months between November 1 and March 31.
Pacific Power residential rates will rise 4.1%, or about $5.64 per month, while PGE customers face a 5% increase adding roughly $8 to typical bills.
PUC Chair Letha Tawney said the adjustments ensure rates reflect "the real costs of delivering power safely and reliably" while funding infrastructure, wildfire mitigation, and storm-related expenses.
Current rates are 50% higher than in 2020, marking the sixth consecutive year of hikes. Starting in 2027, new legislation will limit utilities to requesting residential rate increases only once every three years.
