The Pachakutik movement expressed its rejection of the project on protected areas, promoted by the government of Daniel Noboa and the legislative block of the DNA movement, considering that the proposal opens the door to the privatization of natural resources.
The Plurinational Movement of Unity Pachakutik issued a statement in which it alerts to a new threat to nature in Ecuador, denouncing that the draft law on Protected Areas seeks to place the country's natural resources “in private hands”, weakening environmental protection and violating the rights of indigenous peoples and nationalities.
The creation of a public enterprise may open the door to processes of covert privatization, outsourcing of essential services and the loss of state control over strategic territories, environmental alerts.
