'Overwhelmed with emotions': Navy veteran reunites with missing service dog
A community search led Baker to Mali after an anonymous tip and a collar signal, and a vet found only minor injuries.
Navy veteran Scott Baker reunited with his service dog, Mal, in Jacksonville, Florida, after a dayslong, community-wide search effort located the missing animal.
Mal ran off following a hit-and-run near Atlantic Boulevard and Marketplace Drive last weekend, prompting strangers to share flyers and tips in a widespread search effort.
Acting on an anonymous tip Thursday, Baker tracked his dog to a wooded area in Sutton Lakes using a remote signal connected to her collar.
Upon finding the dog, Baker said he was "overwhelmed with emotions," while a veterinary exam confirmed Mal had no broken bones and only minor injuries.
Baker credited the Jacksonville community for the successful rescue, stating, "This wasn't just one person it was a team, a community, a village.
