Over a dozen stopped by DC police on 1st night of special curfew after Halloween melee

D.C. police stopped 18 youths violating curfew zones after a Halloween melee, with five arrests made including knife possession and resisting arrest, officials said.

D.C. police said a total of 18 curfew violators were stopped by officers on the first night of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s limited juvenile curfew.

A crowd of young people gathered on Halloween night in Washington’s Navy Yard neighborhood was evicted from a park by the police and members of the National Guard after authorities said that some people were involved in disorderly conduct. The Metropolitan Police Department claims that the youth gathered in the park on Friday night and that the gathering remained peaceful despite the crowd growing to several hundred people.
