Wildfires in Greece have burned almost 15,000 hectares. Drone footage shows extensive damage from the blaze in the Attica region, which includes the capital Athens.
Europe has been ravaged by wildfires this summer after a period of record-breaking heat waves and very little rainfall - conditions that many scientists believe have exacerbated human-caused climate change.
Between 2018 and 2026, more than 480,000 acres of land were burned in major forest fires in western Attica, encompassing Athens. With the latest fire still burning in Porto Germeno, experts say August is a critical month.
