West Bengal flags nearly 14 lakh SIR forms as ‘uncollectable’, EC says
West Bengal's Election Commission has identified nearly 14 lakh voter enumeration forms as "uncollectable" due to voters being absentee, duplicate, dead, or permanently shifted. This figure has risen significantly, with over 80,600 Booth Level Officers actively involved in the special intensive revision of electoral rolls.
Vipin Yadav, a BLO and assistant teacher posted in Nawabganj block of Gonda district, fell ill under suspicious circumstances and died while being taken to Lucknow. It is reported that he consumed a poisonous substance. In a viral video, he accused administrative officials of pressure, following which an investigation committee was formed. The actual cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem report.
