Russian MFA Issued Over 1K ‘Traditional Values’ Visas in 2025
The fast-track scheme gives recipients work rights, social benefits and a path to residency or citizenship, officials said.
- The Russian Foreign Ministry issued 1,112 visas last year to foreign nationals who declared a commitment to "traditional values," marking the first full year of a program designed to attract conservative Westerners.
- President Vladimir Putin approved this "humanitarian support" initiative in August 2024, targeting citizens from countries that Moscow claims impose a "destructive neoliberal ideological agenda" contrary to Russian spiritual and moral values.
- German and French nationals topped the list with 168 and 140 recipients respectively, while United States citizens ranked third with 105 visas, placing North America's share at 15% of the global total.
- These permits act as a fast-track to permanent residency, granting immediate work rights and access to state social benefits while bypassing standard requirements for Russian language, history, and legal proficiency exams.
- Earlier this month at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Architect Anton Gilkin outlined plans to establish a town in the Nizhny Novgorod region designed to house 450 European families relocating under the program.
