Otter Tail County mourns loss of WWII Navy pilot

FERGUS FALLS — Otter Tail County is mourning the loss of one of its last World War II veterans. Leo Bernu was 20 years old when he joined the Navy in 1942. He was a pilot who flew in the South Pacific in World War II and served his country until 1962. Bernu died on New Year’s Eve at the age of 103. He is survived by one nephew and eight nieces. A special memorial service for Leo is planned later this year. ]]>
