Oregon traffic stop leads to 122 pounds of drugs, 2 arrests

LINN COUNTY, OREGON, JUL 30 – Two men unlawfully residing in Washington face federal charges after Oregon police seized 120 pounds of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine during a traffic stop, officials said.

  • Shortly after 9:45 a.m., an Oregon State Police trooper stopped a vehicle on I-5 southbound near Albany for alleged traffic violations, detaining Jesus Compos Roman and Eduar Freites-Mosquera.
  • Oregon State Police drug detection dog alerted troopers to narcotics, prompting a search of the trunk, where investigators found over 110 pounds of meth, five pounds of cocaine, and four pounds of fentanyl.
  • Using an OSP drug detection K-9 during the stop, troopers seized about 112 pounds of methamphetamine, 5.6 pounds of cocaine and 4.4 pounds of fentanyl.
  • On Thursday, Jesus Compos Roman, 29, Mexican national, and Eduar David Freites-Mosquera, 27, Bolivian national, appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge and were ordered detained pending further proceedings, facing charges of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute, according to authorities.
  • The case is under joint investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Oregon State Police, and the investigation remains active with no further details released, said OSP.
