The former CEO of Optima, Jeroen Piqueur, has been sentenced by the court to two years' imprisonment, suspended, and a fine of 400,000 euros. Several million euros have also been confiscated. This was decided by the court in Ghent. "The alleged fraud against his real estate clients has not been proven," stated the judge in Ghent. "But he acted for his own financial gain, had a malicious mindset, and his behavior sours the economic climate."
