Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch's Son Being Extradited From Lanzarote to Ireland
On Thursday, a government jet departed Dublin's Casement Aerodome at 9:09 a.m. to retrieve Jason Hutch from Lanzarote, landing at 12:24 p.m. to collect the suspect for transport back to Dublin.
Gardaí secured a European Arrest Warrant against Hutch earlier this year, leading to his arrest by Spanish police in early April; he subsequently lost his final appeal against extradition despite multiple legal challenges.
Hutch is the son of veteran criminal Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch, whom Justice Tara Burns declared 'the figurehead' and 'the patriarchal figure' of the organised crime group in June 2023; both were among nine arrested in Lanzarote in October 2024 over alleged money laundering.
Upon landing at Baldonnel Aerodrome just after 5 p.m., Hutch was arrested and charged at Clondalkin Garda Station, then appeared before Judge Conor Fottrell at a special Dublin District Court sitting Thursday evening, who remanded him to Cloverhill Prison until September 17.
An application is expected to move the case to the Special Criminal Court in coming months, marking the sixth appearance from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation's probe; Canary Islands lawyer Emilio Cabrero claimed Hutch's arrest 'has a very important political connotation.
