RCMP warn drivers as Operation Cold Start targets winter auto theft

EDMONTON — Alberta RCMP and law enforcement partners across the province will take part in Operation Cold Start next week, a winter initiative aimed at reducing thefts of unattended, idling vehicles. The campaign runs from Feb. 1 to Feb. 7, with officers checking parked vehicles to see whether keys have been left inside and whether vehicles are properly secured.
