Opera Announces Opera Neon, the First AI Agentic Browser

  • On May 28, 2025, Norwegian company Opera announced Opera Neon, the first AI agentic browser designed to perform tasks on behalf of users.
  • Opera developed Neon following years of work to create a browser that understands user intent and actively completes tasks like shopping and form-filling.
  • Neon features built-in AI agents called Browser Operator that run locally and in the cloud, enabling multitasking such as website building and booking even offline.
  • Henrik Lexow, Opera’s Senior AI Product Director, said Opera Neon “brings AI’s potential to users’ fingertips” and aims to collaboratively shape agentic browsing’s next chapter.
  • Opera will offer Neon as a premium subscription with a waitlist available, yet the release date, pricing, and real-world performance remain unknown.
