Only 1 Foreign Imam Was Allowed to Work in Flanders in 2024: "17 Others Were Connected to Diyanet"

Summary by Vrt
Last year, the Flemish government rejected almost all applications from foreign imams who wanted to work in Flanders. 17 of the 18 applications were rejected because the imams could be linked to the Turkish Diyanet umbrella organization. "They are therefore linked to Turkish President Erdogan and are financed from abroad, and we do not want that," says Flemish Minister of Employment and Justice Zuhal Demir (N-VA) on Radio 1.
