'One Hundred Years of Solitude' S2 trailer brings change to Macondo
- Netflix has set an unusual split August rollout for One Hundred Years of Solitude Part 2: the first seven episodes premiere August 5, while the nearly two-hour finale releases separately on August 26.
- Filmed entirely in Colombia with García Márquez's family support, the project represents a milestone for the Colombian industry, which just four to six years ago believed such a production simply wasn't possible.
- Showrunner Laura Mora directed five episodes of Part 2, including the finale, while Carlos Moreno directed the remaining three; the team structured each episode as a film to deepen the narrative and make it more cinematic.
- The finale will receive special theatrical event screenings in select Colombian cities through partnership with Proimágenes before its Netflix release, giving the adaptation a larger showcase where the series was filmed and García Márquez's novel is set.
- Part 2 covers the final decades of the century-spanning story as José Arcadio Segundo's efforts to modernize Macondo bring the railroad and banana company, accelerating the town's transformation from utopia toward the curse that has haunted the Buendía family for generations.
