One dead, another seriously injured after house fire
Police are investigating the cause as an arson chemist attends, after crews reached the home within 3 minutes, officials said.
On Monday, a resident died and another suffered serious injuries following an early morning house fire on Newbury Street in Werribee, with emergency services called just after midnight.
Fire Rescue Victoria crews arrived within three minutes of the initial call, discovering the home's tiled roof fully alight; paramedics treated a 40-year-old man for burns at the scene.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the blaze, with a spokeswoman stating, "The circumstances surrounding the fire and being investigated and an arson chemist will attend the scene."
Senior Constable Paul Hogan confirmed on ABC radio that "a resident of the home died at the scene, and a second resident remains in hospital with serious injuries."
