Apollo 11 splashdown crew member recalls his role in history
Former Navy "frogman," Michael Mallory, played an important role in the Pacific Ocean that day on July 24, 1969. When the lunar capsule returned to Earth and splashed down, he was part of the Navy team assigned to get the astronauts safely out of their space vehicle; but more importantly, Mallory said, the mission was to not let the returning spacecraft slip into the depths of the ocean.
