Saipem Marks Neptun Deep Offshore Installation Milestone in Black Sea
The project remains on track for first gas in 2027 as the offshore platform and 160 km pipeline are completed, Reuters reported.
- On Monday, OMV Petrom and Romgaz completed installation of the Neptun Alpha production platform in the Black Sea, keeping the Neptun Deep project on schedule for 2027 production startup.
- The Saipem 7000, the world's third-largest semi-submersible crane vessel, lifted the 16,500-ton platform into position in 120 meters of water, anchoring it with 8 steel piles.
- Crews finished the 160 km pipeline to Tuzla and completed 6 of 10 development wells, with the pipeline constructed from steel segments measuring 30 inches in diameter.
- The platform is "fully automated and can be operated remotely," said Cristian Hubati, member of the Directoratului OMV Petrom responsible for Exploration and Production, supporting a 75% production increase.
- Project teams will now focus on connecting subsea infrastructure and integrating offshore installations with the transport pipeline, followed by rigorous testing to prepare for 2027 production.
