Oman summons Iran envoy over drone strikes

Oman said the drone attacks violated its sovereignty as Iran claimed the strikes were retaliation for renewed U.S. raids and hit 140 targets, CENTCOM said.

  • On Sunday, Oman's Foreign Ministry summoned Iranian Ambassador Mousa Farhang to deliver a formal protest after drones targeted sites in Musandam and Al-Wusta, denouncing the attacks as "irresponsible" and a violation of sovereignty.
  • The IRGC struck logistics facilities at the Omani Port of Duqm, describing the attack as retaliation for US operations; President Donald Trump declared the US-Iran memorandum of understanding "over" following the escalation.
  • Central Command reported striking about 140 Iranian targets, while Omani rescue personnel extracted 23 crew members from the Cyprus-flagged GFS Galaxy after an attack, leaving one Indian national missing.
  • Ties between Oman and Iran have fallen into one of their worst crises in decades, prompting Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Sheikh Khalid to urge Tehran to respect diplomatic norms and non-interference.
  • The current standoff threatens the diplomatic conduit through the Strait of Hormuz, which Tehran claims it closed after firing missiles at American military targets.
