Olivia Rodrigo Releases 'The Cure' Single, Music Video
The second single previews an experimental album of sad love songs and explores doubt, loss of trust and jealousy, Rodrigo said.
On Friday, pop star Olivia Rodrigo released 'The Cure,' the second official single from her upcoming third album, 'You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love,' set for June 12.
The upcoming record follows her critically acclaimed 2021 debut 'Sour' and 2023's 'Guts,' while Rodrigo previously released lead single 'Drop Dead' on April 17 to test audience reception to a lighter sound.
Centered on melancholic acoustic guitar, the track explores themes of doubt and the realization that love cannot resolve internal struggles; the music video depicts Rodrigo as a nurse in a cardboard diorama.
Describing the song as the 'thesis statement' of her new album, Rodrigo told The Elvis Duran Show yesterday that the track reflects new maturity in her songwriting and is her 'favourite' song.
Rodrigo announced the 'Unraveled Tour' earlier this month, featuring Wolf Alice, The Last Dinner Party, Devon Again, Die Spitz, and Grace Ives as support acts across multiple dates.
