Former TOWIE Star Urges Women to Not Fear Breast Cancer Checks Following Scare
Attwood says 38% of women neglect their health as she backs a campaign with Tombola and Breast Cancer Now to encourage breast checks.
Reality TV star Olivia Attwood has launched a campaign with Tombola and Breast Cancer Now to encourage women to check their breasts regularly and overcome embarrassment surrounding medical examinations.
Attwood, 35, was motivated after finding a "quite a sizeable lump" on her breast in 2020, which was biopsied and found benign but later removed, teaching her the importance of vigilance.
Research from Tombola and Breast Cancer Now found that 38% of women admit to neglecting their health. Attwood said "the whole takeaway from this is community, friendship, and encouraging your friends to check their breasts."
During a podcast episode releasing on Thursday, Attwood discussed the topic with Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle, reflecting on how young women are often "scared" to check their breasts.
Attwood urged women not to let embarrassment prevent life-saving checks, saying "you can't die out of embarrassment" and "you need to get out of your own head and realise these checks could save your life.
