Olivia and Muhammad Maintain Top Spots in Annual Baby Name Rankings
The top 10 names accounted for 9.1% of births, while Lily moved ahead of Amelia and several new names entered the top 100.
The Office for National Statistics revealed the most popular baby names for England and Wales in 2025, with Olivia topping the girls' list for the tenth consecutive year and Muhammad leading for boys.
Official data recorded 585,396 live births across England and Wales in 2025, comprising 284,681 female and 300,715 male infants.
Lily overtook Amelia as the second most popular girls' name, while Leo entered the top three for boys, displacing Oliver to sixth place.
Ada saw the largest popularity increase among girls, rising 54 places, while Roman climbed 33 places for boys, according to the ONS.
New entries to the list included Eliana and Frankie for girls, plus Vincent and Ruben for boys, with rankings derived from exact spelling at birth registration.
