Oklahoma Holds Off Late Georgia Rally for 4-3 Win in College World Series

- Georgia entered averaging 9.4 runs per game with the nation's second-ranked offense, but freshman right-hander Xander Mercurius limited the Bulldogs to three runs and six hits while striking out nine.
- Jason Walk smoked a 104 mph leadoff double and scored; Willits crushed a two-run homer to left center in the first inning to give Oklahoma a 3-0 lead. Daniel Jackson's 32nd homer hammered a 92 mph fastball 447 feet over left field to pull Georgia within 4-3 in the eighth.
- Closer Jackson Cleveland escaped a late jam to secure the save, with Rylan Lujo singling and Kenny Ishikawa walking before Ryan Wynn flew out. Ishikawa said, "The good thing about this series is we still get to compete tomorrow."
- Georgia's 10-game winning streak ended with the loss, while Oklahoma will face either Georgia or Texas at 6 p.m. Wednesday, needing just one win to return to the CWS finals for the first time since 2022.
