Oklahoma AG files lawsuit against Allstate, accuses insurer of wrongfully denying claims
The suit alleges Allstate used secret standards and unlicensed reviewers to cut storm payouts and violated state consumer protection and racketeering laws.
- On Tuesday, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond sued Allstate in Cleveland County District Court, accusing the insurer of systematically underpaying or denying storm-related claims over several years.
- Drummond alleges Allstate implemented an internal "Disaster Payment Minimization Scheme" since at least 2020, replacing licensed adjusters with unlicensed "picture takers" to restrict coverage and reduce payouts.
- The state claims Allstate held an 8.14% share of its property insurance market in 2025 with $219.1 million in premiums, while the petition alleges violations of the Oklahoma Consumer Protection Act and the Oklahoma Racketeer-Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
- This filing follows Drummond's lawsuit against State Farm last month, as the state seeks civil penalties and restitution for Oklahomans facing claim denials in the region known as "Tornado Alley."
- "Consumers pay their premiums expecting their insurance company to be there when disaster strikes," Drummond said, emphasizing the lawsuit's aim to hold insurers accountable for broken promises to homeowners.
