Okinawa Prefecture, Urasoe, and Yaese to Begin Supporting Single Parents in Obtaining Driver's Licenses This Fiscal Year, Using a Private Sector Model to Aim for Employment.

In January 2016, a prefectural survey revealed that the child poverty rate in Okinawa was as high as 29.9%, and this year marks 10 years since the government began providing full-scale support. As part of its support for single-parent families, the prefecture will implement a program starting in fiscal year 2014 to help young single parents who do not have a driver's license obtain one.
