Trump renewed his push after the Supreme Court upheld the constitutional guarantee that anyone born in the United States is a citizen.
On Monday, President Donald Trump successfully lobbied FIFA to reinstate Folarin Balogun for the United States' World Cup match against Belgium after the player received a questionable red card.

Balogun received the red card during Wednesday's victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina, triggering "four days of coordinated lobbying, legal maneuvering and diplomacy" stretching from the Oval Office to FIFA's headquarters.
Trump celebrated the reversal on Truth Social, writing "Thank you to FIFA for doing what was right," while simultaneously urging Congress to work on ending birthright citizenship.
Observers noted Trump's actions demonstrate a "revealed preference" for immigration when it benefits the United States, contradicting Trump's chief of staff Stephen Miller's characterization of birthright citizenship as an "abomination.
