- In Paris, France, the Ogun State Government and DP World MEA FZE signed Memoranda of Understanding for the Gateway Deep Sea Port and Blue Marine Special Economic Zone, representing an initial investment of more than $7 billion.
- President Bola Ahmed Tinubu witnessed the signing, commending Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for structuring the investment framework. The development aligns with the federal Renewed Hope Agenda and Ogun's Building Our Future Together strategy to diversify Nigeria's economy.
- The Gateway Deep Sea Port will feature a four-kilometre berth and an 18-metre draft, positioned to handle larger vessels and decongest the Lagos port corridor. Integration with the 10,000-hectare Blue Marine Special Economic Zone supports manufacturing and processing industries.
- These projects are projected to generate over 50,000 direct jobs while addressing longstanding infrastructure and logistics constraints. The initiative creates an integrated platform for industrial production, maritime commerce, and improved access to African and global markets for Nigerian exports.
- The emerging corridor will link the industrial zone to the 28-kilometre Ogun section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Nigerian Navy Operating Base, Dockyard, and the OK LNG Project. This broader infrastructure network strengthens maritime, energy, and trade connectivity.
