Officials warn of increased bear activity in North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. (WAVY) -- The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is urging residents to be cautious as bears begin to fatten up for the winter. According to a release, throughout the late summer and fall, black bears enter a phase called hyperphagia, which means "extreme appetite."
