Ofcom investigates GB News over guest’s pride and paedophilia remarks
The regulator is examining whether the broadcast breached rules on offensive material after more than 12,000 complaints.
- Ofcom launched a standards investigation into Alex Armstrong Tonight following more than 12,000 complaints about a July 5 segment titled "Is Pride suitable for families?" which critics argued promoted hate toward the LGBTQ+ community.
- During the broadcast, guest Caroline Farrow alleged Pride is "not about gay rights" but celebrates "bizarre and unhealthy" sexualities including bestiality and paedophilia, prompting immediate viewer backlash.
- Separately, a second investigation involves more than 3,400 complaints regarding Saturday Five on June 20, where a panellist claimed gay men are "more prone to sexual deviancy" when discussing the Preston Davey case.
- The Good Law Project filed complaints arguing these broadcasts promote "malignant falsehoods" linking LGBTQ+ individuals to paedophilia; lawyer Matt Gill called for the regulator to impose "meaningful sanctions."
- These represent the second and third investigations into anti-LGBTQ+ attacks on GB News within two years; in February 2025, the network received 70,000 complaints before issuing an on-air apology.
