In a statement, the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) reported that overall inflation increased in 23 of the organization's 38 countries, remained stable - like the United States, 3.4% - or almost stable in twelve and fell in three (Estonia, Slovakia and Turkey).
Inflation on an annual basis in the OECD area, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose to 4.3% in August, up from 4.1% in July. In Italy it stood at 3.3%. (ANSA)
