- In Bhubaneswar on July 20, 2025, Mancheswar Police arrested Udit Pradhan on rape charges, after allegedly spiking the victim’s drink with sedatives.
- On March 18, 2025, the victim met Pradhan near Master Canteen Chowk, he introduced himself as NSUI Odisha president, and invited them to a Nayapalli hotel.
- Following the drink, she felt dizzy soon after and was threatened to remain silent.
- In response, NSUI suspended Pradhan immediately, and about 50 supporters and family members gathered outside Mancheswar station.
- He is set to appear in court on July 21, police are analysing hotel CCTV footage and booking records, and the case underscores calls for safety reforms.
