- In response, the Odisha government ordered an administrative inquiry led by Development Commissioner Anu Garg to investigate the causes and responsibility.
- Garg began her investigation on July 1 by visiting the site and discussing with temple officials, police, and other stakeholders while a four-member OAS team was formed to assist her.
- Following the incident, the government took disciplinary action by suspending two senior police officials for neglecting their duties, reassigning the Puri District Collector and Superintendent of Police, and appointing Aravind Agarwal and Soumendra Priyadarshi to manage the Rath Yatra arrangements and related law enforcement.
- The public was urged on July 3 to share information or video evidence by July 20 via email or through meetings with Garg, emphasizing a transparent inquiry and future safety measures.
