The agency will examine CMO records and access logs to determine whether the report was misplaced, removed or suppressed.
- On Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directed the Odisha Police Crime Branch to investigate the disappearance of the Naidu Commission report concerning the 2008 murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati from the CMO.
- The inquiry commission, led by Naidu, was established to investigate the 2008 killing of the 84-year-old religious leader in Kandhamal, an incident that triggered widespread communal violence across the State.
- Suresh Pujari first disclosed on June 17 that the file had gone missing from the CMO, prompting officials to examine movement registers and statements from personnel who accessed the records.
- Karthikeya Pandian, Rajesh Verma, and Manoj Mishra were summoned by police regarding the files; while Mishra appeared before the Assistant Commissioner, Pandian and Verma did not attend questioning.
