NYC Shootings at Historic Low Through July 2025, NYPD Commissioner Reports

NEW YORK CITY, AUG 5 – Shootings fell nearly 18% in July and overall major crimes dropped about 5% in 2025, driven by NYPD’s focused gang violence efforts and Quality of Life teams, officials said.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York City has recorded the lowest number of shooting incidents and victims in its history for the first seven months of a year, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced Monday.
