City Council set to grill NYPD officials over NYC crime trends
New York City councilmembers are scheduled to grill top-ranking police officials — notably without Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch — in what is gearing up to be a hourslong hearing in City Hall Wednesday.
New York City Councilman Phil Wong recently requested that the New York City Police Department (NYPD) release internal crime case quality assurance audit data to understand whether public reports were handled properly, whether cases were correctly classified, and how many cases needed to be corrected or upgraded from misdemeanors to felonies after errors were discovered.
