Nvidia to Invest $2 Billion in Neocloud Nebius Amid Ai Data Center Push

Nvidia’s $2 billion deal with Nebius aims to build over 5 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030, powering infrastructure with next-generation Nvidia hardware.

  • On Wednesday, Nvidia Corp. said it will invest $2 billion in Amsterdam-based Nebius Group NV, the companies announced in a strategic partnership.
  • NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said 'Nebius is building an AI cloud designed for the agentic era,' and the partnership covers AI factory design, inference infrastructure, fleet management, and early access to Rubin, Vera CPUs, and BlueField systems.
  • With a >5 GW target, Nebius aims to deploy over 5 gigawatts of capacity by 2030, powering more than 4 million U.S. households, and U.S.-listed Nebius shares jumped over 10 per cent in premarket trading.
  • Following other recent rounds, observers note the pattern of Nvidia's investments in companies that deploy its chips, which has drawn scrutiny, including $2 billion each in Lumentum and Coherent.
  • Nebius CEO Arkady Volozh said the company was 'built for AI since day one,' and Wednesday's deal builds on an earlier relationship with Nvidia, which owned about $33 million of Nebius shares as of December 2024.
