After years of protests by animal welfare organizations, plans for the world's first octopus farm have been scrapped. The Spanish company that wanted to build a farm on Gran Canaria has withdrawn its application, according to Spanish media outlets such as Canarias Ahora and El Diario.
The food company is holding back the initiative in the face of new administrative and regulatory obstacles imposed by the Government of the Canary Islands
