In the search for the best possible place for Germany's nuclear waste, geologists have ruled out other regions. For others, however, the matter becomes more concrete – also in Bavaria.
In the search for sites for a nuclear waste repository, further regions were excluded. About 25 percent of Germany's surface area is still eligible, including Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt.
The Bundesgesellschaft für Endlager (BGE) in Peine has classified further areas as unsuitable in the search for a nuclear waste repository. Large parts of northern Germany have not yet been examined.
